Where does your Lipitor® come from?
Most consumers have never stopped to think about where their medications
are made and assume they were manufactured in their own “backyard”.
To the contrary, many popular medications are manufactured in facilities
all over the world and shipped to your country for consumption.
It is important to note that the same pharmaceutical companies manufacture
specific drugs for distribution worldwide. These medications do
not differ in quality or effectiveness – only price.
In addition to our Canadian pharmacies, Prescriptnet ™ has partnered
with International pharmacies to provide you with quality medication
at an affordable price. These partner pharmacies, whether located
in the United States or the United Kingdom, are subject to the same
exacting standards we expect from our Canadian pharmacies. We choose
our partners carefully and contract with only licensed pharmacies,
employing licensed pharmacists, dispensing approved drugs.
Canadian Pharmacies
Prescriptnet partners with licensed Canadian pharmacies ensuring your
medications meet the rigorous standards of Health
Canada’s Therapeutic Products Directorate. The Therapeutic
Products Directorate (TPD) is the Canadian federal authority that
regulates pharmaceutical drugs and medical devices for human use.
Prior to being given market authorization, a manufacturer must present
substantive scientific evidence of a product's safety, efficacy
and quality as required by Health Canada’s Food and Drugs
Act and Food and Drug Regulations.
Dispensing prescription medications is highly regulated in Canada.
Provincially licensed pharmacies and federally licensed wholesalers
ensure the exceptional quality of all prescription medications sold
by Prescriptnet .
United States Pharmacies
In the United States, the Federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act requires
that drugs be proven both safe and effective, and be manufactured
to strict quality standards, before the FDA can approve them.
UK Pharmacies
Our partner pharmacies in the UK are licensed by the Royal
Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain, meaning you can be
assured a safe and high standard of care. All drugs are dispensed
by licensed pharmacists and have been approved by one of the following
agencies:
The European Medicines
Evaluation Agency (EMEA) – coordinates the evaluation
and supervision of medicinal products throughout the European Union.
The Medicines
and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) – The
executive agency of the United Kingdom’s Department of Health
responsible for protecting and promoting public health and patient
safety by ensuring that medicines, healthcare products and medical
equipment meet appropriate standards of safety, quality, performance
and effectiveness.
Australian Pharmacies
Our partner pharmacies in Australia are regulated by the Therapeutic
Goods Administration. The Therapeutic Goods Administration is
the main government agency responsible for enforcing the regulations
of medicines in Australia. As with other industrialized countries,
including the United States, each medicine product is manufactured
according to Good Manufacturing Practices. The Australian Code of
Good Manufacturing Practice is a set of principles and procedures
aimed at providing assurance that each medication product is safe,
and of the required quality. It comprises requirements relating
to premises, equipment, personnel, documentation and quality control.
New Zealand Pharmacies
Medsafe
is the New Zealand Medicines and Medical Devices Safety Authority.
It is a business unit of the Ministry of Health and is the authority
responsible for the regulation of therapeutic products in New Zealand.
Medsafe is tasked with ensuring that medicines meet acceptable standards
of quality, safety and efficacy.
